Caffarra’s Suspicious Statement
Dear TIA,
About the recent Regina Coeli blog post on the 2008, Cardinal Carlo Caffarra (Archbishop of Bologna) quote from Sister Lucy of Fatima .
“I [Card. Caffarra]] wrote to Sister Lucia of Fatima through her Bishop as I couldn’t do so directly. Inexplicably, however, since I didn’t expect an answer, seeing that I had only asked for prayers, I received a very long letter with her signature – now in the Institute’s archives. In it we find written: 'The final battle between the Lord and the reign of Satan will be about marriage and the family. Don’t be afraid,' she added, 'because anyone who works for the sanctity of marriage and the family will always be fought and opposed in every way, because this is the decisive issue.' And then she concluded: 'however, Our Lady has already crushed its head.' ”
I am most suspicious of the statement “Our Lady has already crushed its head,” as this makes it sound as if the battle is over, as if the Consecration of Russia had happened, as if we don't need to worry and pray anymore. OOOkay, so then where's all the peace and restoration we are promised?
This also leads me to wonder about “the sanctity of marriage and the family” as being “the decisive issue”.
Marriage, family and Onanism are serious issues to be sure, however there appears to be a constant distraction from the existence of the crisis in the Church and the triumph of the Immaculate Heart. Additionally, the confusion on Lucy I and Lucy II, and who really said what, and the timing of this apparent statement, compared to how the 'old' Sister Lucy typically spoke, adds to my suspicions.
What are your thoughts, please?
T.H.E.
TIA responds:
Dear T.H.E.,
We are glad to say that we agree with you. We have the same suspicions you noted above. Sister Lucy II was saying all kinds of strange things that contradict the spirit and words spoken by Sister Lucy I. For example, at the request of a cardinal, she issued a small book pretending that Our Lady was concerned about glorifying Judaism…
So, it does not surprise that, at the request of another cardinal, she would issue another document saying other things implying that the Vatican has already made the consecration of Russia and that Communism is no longer the crucial issue for our times.
Cordially,

Reply to Fr. Carleton's comment on Laudato Si’
Dear Fr. Carleton,
[Fr. Carleton's original text can be read here]
With all due respect for your admiration of the Pope’s encyclical, I would like to state that the Holy Father did not give a Trojan Horse to the enemies of the Church in Laudato; he gave them, instead, a diversion away from the world’s much needed reminder that the Church’s mandate is to save souls – and not just individual souls, but also entire societies by going forth and teaching “all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you...” (Mt 28:19)
I also want to respectfully remind you, Father, that those pagan nations, from the time of Constantine onward, that embraced the Faith have experienced great social, economic, educational, scientific and political advancement through the practice of the social virtues that were carefully fostered in them by Holy Mother Church. We now have the benefit of hindsight to look upon the current social conditions of the once Christian West to compare these conditions with that of those other nations who expelled Catholic missionaries from their lands and continued forward to develop over the centuries without the salting influence of the Church.
It is in these stubborn societies that still remain with us today that you will find the greatest violations of basic human rights, where the populace – especially the women and children – is treated as if they were nothing more than beasts of burden. In these societies, you will also find the most uneducated and oppressed populace with a governing elite who is callous towards the polluting effects of the environment and the heavy human toll being paid by their subjects to maintain their engines of material progress. I might also add that many of these same never-were-Christian societies still openly practice pedophilia, human slavery and sex trafficking, a modern day horror that the Holy Father rightly condemns.
As far as the subject of Laudato, Father, I must respectfully mention to you, that any modern environmentalist would be edified to learn how the Church Fathers and the Saints saw nature as a tender reminder that Creation is a sacramental sign of God’s Divine Providence over all of humanity and is a witness to Divine Revelation's truth on the unity, diversity and immensity in the Godhead.
They also explained the Truth that man is unique among the created order in that his material body is comprised of all the elements of organic and inorganic matter into which God, ex nihilo, breathes a rational soul at every conception, thus giving everyone the capacity to partake in the created supernatural order through Baptism, in addition to the already existing created natural order. Any talk about creation without mentioning Man as its summit and without mentioning the Incarnation and Christ's redemptive work at Calvary to restore all of creation to Him, is certainly lacking in Catholic thought.
Furthermore, the neo-pagan environmentalists also need a reminder that we live in a fallen world due to the Original Sin of our first parents. Ever since the Fall, nature became a hostile force and no longer cooperates with man, as it did in the Garden, by providing for man’s daily sustenance. As a result, humanity now has to conquer and compete for the forces of nature to survive. It is this ‘conquering of nature’ and the drive for competition by modern material utopists that brought us to this current environmental crisis.
The modern world, with its industrial and technological progress, is reverting back to pagan thinking that treats human labor as simply another commodity to be bought and sold on the open market while, at the same time, the agricultural class is encouraged or forced to leave the land to work for a wage. Ironically, the true environmentalists can be found among those who live and make their living off the land. They know the limits of sustainability. They know that if their children and grandchildren, along with the countless future generations, are to enjoy the earth's bounty as we do, the conserving and replenishing of environmental resources is a moral imperative.
The UN’s Agenda 21, unfortunately, is the global plan to herd the greater part of mankind into urban areas, dividing the world into economic zones, leaving open land for recreation only while agribusiness supplies our food. During this same time, the neo-pagan environmentalists, many of whom came from formerly Catholic families, use coercion to micro-manage our daily consumer habits to accompany them on a fools' journey to re-create what was lost forever in our earthly Paradise, thus leading us to a future that will not be Utopian but Dystopian.
In the Garden of Eden, God gave the mandate ‘Be fruitful and multiply’ to all reproductive creatures. Throughout human history of our fallen world, there has been enormous pressures to control population growth as a way to obtain sustainability, having lost the perfect sustainable ecological balance for all of God's creatures in the Garden of Eden.
Unfortunately, by Pope Francis’ giving his support for the UN sustainability agenda, the visible Church is aligning herself with the biggest promoter and financial contributor in destroying God’s highest creation through chemical and surgical abortions, as well as through the mutilation of the reproductive system by sterilization, which is often done by force in Third World countries, especially African.
The political impact of Laudato will be enormous with Pope Francis’ joint appearance at the UN this coming September with President Obama, a President who actively promotes abortion as a basic medical right and who just recently openly celebrated the unnatural consummation of same-sex couples in achieving the ‘right’ to the legal status of ‘married’ under the recent Supreme Court ruling.
How can this much publicized event not demoralize the Catholics in the the Pro Life and Pro Family movements? What will Catholic American hearts be bleeding for in the coming elections? Will it be for the spilling of innocent blood by way of abortion, or will it be for the pillar of creation, the natural biological family, being undermined by our civil laws? Or will their hearts bleed in the next election over the urgent need to have more recycling centers?
Finally, Father, I would like to recall the traditional Church catechists (cf. Catechism of the Catholic Church n. 1867) on the two of the four sins that cry to heaven for vengeance; the spilling of innocent blood and unnatural sexual acts. The once Christian West has now enshrined these two sins as a basic human right and is imposing these ‘rights’ on non-Western societies through the UN’s Agenda 21.
I am sorry to say that the Pope’s encyclical in not the “Trojan Horse” for the enemies, but a prophylactic that is preventing a true Catholic teaching moment by Pope Francis’ Magisterium to amplify the Gospel in its entirety as it was handed down to us through the centuries by Holy Mother Church.
Thank you for reading this, Father, and may God bless us all by raising up Saints among us!
