I have a long and deep connection with the Madonna House Community in Canada. Madonna House calls itself “a training center for the lay apostolate” and was founded in 1947 by the Russian refugee Catherine Doherty in Ontario. My concerns have been growing for some time as I note the direction the community is traveling.
I always kept my eyes wide open for inroads the occult is making into the Church and Catholic communities. They are becoming so blatant now, and Madonna House openheartedly walks around the tiger's pit, that I cannot keep silent. The Madonna House community has stepped forth with open arms into ecumenism.
United Religions Initiative
Regarding ecumenism, there is an interfaith organization modeled after the United Nations, which is the United Religions Initiative (URI). This organization aims to create social change by promoting "enduring, daily interfaith cooperation" ending "religiously motivated violence," and promoting "cultures of peace, justice and healing for the Earth and all living beings."
The URI started when UN deputy secretary Gillian Sorenson invited Anglican Bishop Swing of San Francisco to sponsor an interfaith service at Grace Episcopalian Cathedral in 1995 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter. Swing then unveiled the plan for the URI during the UN anniversary interfaith service.
Since 1996, the URI has grown from a small group of 55 visionary people to a global organization with nearly 200 Cooperation Circles engaging over 15,000 interfaith activists from 88 faith traditions and 46 countries. Many Catholics worldwide – from Belgium, Brazil, Ethiopia, Hungary, India, Israel, Kenya, Mexico, Nepal, the Philippines, Uganda, Zimbabwe and other countries have been active in the URI. Many other Catholics in the United States and elsewhere are contributors, affiliates or supporters of its projects.
Along with the Archdiocese of San Francisco, the Jesuit leaders of the University of San Francisco actively support the URI. John Borelli, Associate Director of the Secretariat for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs of the USCCB, said in November 2002, “Since the Archdiocese of San Francisco is involved in the URI, the Catholic Church is involved.”

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that during the 1995 interfaith service, “prayers, chants and incantations were offered to a dozen deities.” Holy water from the Ganges, the Amazon, the Red Sea, the River Jordan and other sacred streams was mingled into a single “bowl of unity” on the altar of Grace Cathedral.
During the UN anniversary service, Bishop Swing made the symbolism of the ritual clear. “As these sacred waters find confluence here,” the Episcopalian Bishop said, “may the city that chartered the nations of the world bring together the religions of the world” (San Francisco Chronicle). The San Jose Mercury News reported, “Swing asked religious leaders to come together as one ‘emerging soul for peace.’” (Lee Penn, False Dawn, p. 199).
The URI allows anyone of any spiritual belief to join. It is heavily New Age. They accept Wicca members and neo-pagans. At the URI Global Assembly in Rio de Janeiro in 2002, there was an "inter-religious ceremony of fire” attended by approximately 200 persons held in
Parque da Cidade, one of the largest urban forests in the world. One participant reported that a group of Amazon Indian sorcerers led a trail through the woods and, together with a group of shamans, lit the fire. The ceremony also had Wiccan and Zoroastrian rituals (Lee Penn,
False Dawn, p. 201) .
Temple of Understanding
Another Interfaith Community, based in New York with close ties to the United Nations, is the Temple of Understanding, founded by Amitai Etzioni (advisor to presidents since 1979). Etzioni's new communitarian idea of "community spirit" is based on the Talmud, Hegel and the theosophical ideas expressed by Madame Blavatsky and Alister Crowley. They, along with many other gurus, introduced Americans to the worship of Lucifer as the ultimate ‘light being.’

One Thousand Points of Light is a whole program based on Satanic "community oriented" principles. (The author of this
document is Niki Raapana, an expert on Communitarianism, which is legally taking over the United States with no media coverage and almost no public awareness.)
I must also mention that the Carmelites have become an NGO. NGO stands for Non Governmental Organization aligned with the United Nations. If you click in Carmelite NGO, you will see that they are working for the United Nations goals of globalization. This site reports that on May 11, 2010 in New York the Carmelites took part in a panel called Consumption and the Rights of Mother Earth sponsored by the Temple of Understanding, among others.
Earth Charter
The Temple of Understanding, as noted above, is partially based on Theosophy. These theosophists, cultists and the leaders of Earth Charter movements have made their goals clear. In his book False Dawn, Lee Penn states:
“There would be a New Religion for the ‘new civilization’ of the new millennium. Its code would be the Earth Charter (which Gorbachev likens to ‘a kind of Ten Commandments, a Sermon on the Mount’); its creed would be ‘unity in diversity’; its cult would be the ‘sacred Earth.’ The seven new capital sins would be pollution, over-population, over-consumption, nationalism, patriarchy, capitalism and ‘fundamentalism’ (which, in most cases, means daring to evangelize for Christ). The only heresy would be religious orthodoxy."
As Fr. Newhaus, editor of First Things magazine, has warned, ‘Where orthodoxy is optional, orthodoxy will sooner or later be proscribed.’”

The Earth Charter, for those who do not know, is a revolutionary set of ecological principles put forward in 1994 by Mikhail Gorbachev, Maurice Strong (Senior Advisor to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan), Steven Rockefeller and others. It is also supported by the URI, the US Conference of Mayors, the Sierra Club, the Rosicrucians, the School of Ageless Wisdom, the Florida Cannabis Action Network, and about 100 Catholic Religious Orders.
The Earth Charter Initiative seeks UN approval, and hopes that its principles will be written into binding international treaties. One of its aims is to "ensure universal access to healthcare that fosters reproductive health and responsible reproduction." In UN circles, ‘reproductive health’ includes artificial contraception, abortion and sterilization (Lee Penn, False Dawn, p. 385).
The Pope fosters the same agenda
As you can see, if Communism couldn’t kill our Church, it is trying to replace it using tactics like the Earth Charter. And if the UN is linked to all these movements, and the Pope is backing the UN as the world governing body (see his latest encyclical Charity in Truth, pp. 135 ff.), the Pope desperately needs our prayers. For ecumenism does not stop with schismatic and heretic groups… it keeps right on going until it includes Lucifer himself.

In his apostolic letter Notre Charge Apostolique of August 15, 1910, Pope Pius X warned of exactly this evil: “We are witnessing a great movement of apostasy being organized in every country for the establishment of a one-world church, which shall have neither dogmas nor hierarchy; neither discipline for the mind nor curb for the passions.” Today, such warning is disregarded and the one-world church is being promoted by the Pope himself.
As early as 1928, however, Pope Pius XI spoke out specifically against the subject of religious unity in the Encyclical Mortalium animos. Advising us that St. John forbade interaction with heretics, the Pope wrote:
“These pan-Christians who strive for the union of the churches would appear to pursue the noblest of ideals in promoting charity among all Christians. But how should charity tend to the detriment of faith? Everyone knows that John himself, the Apostle of love, who seems in his Gospel to have revealed the secrets of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and who never ceased to impress upon the memory of his disciples the new commandment ‘to love one another,’ nevertheless strictly forbade an intercourse with those who professed a mutilated and corrupt form of Christ’s teaching: 'If any man come to you and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into the house, nor say to him, God speed you.' (2 John 1:10).”
Once, when I visited Madonna House, foundress Catherine Doherty said (and I paraphrase), “We are coming to a time when there will be an outright battle between the forces of Light and the forces of Darkness. There are plenty of people to stand up for the forces of Darkness. There must be some people willing to stand up for the forces of Light.”
