International Mother Earth Day:
Tribalism, Marxism & Pantheism

This April 22 the International Mother Earth Day was celebrated for the first time. In 2009 the General Assembly of the United Nations unanimously adopted a proposition by Bolivian President Evo Morales to designate April 22 as “Mother Earth Day.”

Attending the observances at the UN headquarters last year, Morales addressed the 192-nation body, saying the Earth has a “right to live.” Then, he stated, “We are strangling the planet – strangling ourselves.” For too long, Morales declared, the world has been held captive by the seductive notion of Capitalism to the detriment of the marginalized and poor. If the 20th century was called “the century of human rights,” this new era would be known as “the century of the rights of Mother Earth.”
The resolution approved by the UN was drawn up by none other than Leonardo Boff, the ex-Franciscan leader of Liberation Theology who now is a promoter of the Green Movement.
We can see that the United Nations is fomenting a neo-Marxism mixed with Pantheism, inspired by revolutionary priests like Boff and Miguel D’Escoto, the past president of the UN General Assembly.
Along the same lines, Evo Morales is encouraging in his country idolatry to the ancestral gods and the cult to fertility goddess Pachamama, known as ‘Mother world.’
Tribalism, Marxism, & Pantheism
Following this agenda, a Universal Declaration of the Rights of Mother Earth was adopted on April 22, 2010 by the first World People’s Conference on Climate Change in Cochabamba, Bolivia. The conference, called the Cochabamba Summit, had the support of the World Social Forum.
This meeting was a summit organized by Neo-Marxist leaders in Latin America trying to repair and give continuity to the failed XV International Conference on Climate Change of Copenhagen (December 7-18, 2009).
At the end of the Conference, a decision was made to present its Universal Declaration to the UN. On May 7, 2010, on behalf of the Bolivian government, President Morales did this, affirming that the document “establishes obligations for all human beings with regard to nature and that recognizes, in the form of rights, the limits that human activity must have if we are going to preserve planet Earth.” His presentation was favorably received by the assembly and the media, and the UN duly agreed to discuss the document.
Declaration of Earth’s Rights
Penned by Leonardo Boff, this document includes these Pantheist principles:
- Mother Earth is a living being.
- Mother Earth is a unique, indivisible, self-regulating community of interrelated beings that sustains, contains and reproduces all beings.
- Each being is defined by its relationships as an integral part of Mother Earth.
- The inherent rights of Mother Earth are inalienable in that they arise from the same source as existence.
- Mother Earth and all beings are entitled to all the inherent rights recognized in this Declaration without distinction of any kind, such as may be made between organic and inorganic beings, species, origin, use to human beings, or any other status.
- Just as human beings have human rights, all other beings also have rights which are specific to their species or kind and appropriate for their role and function within the communities within which they exist.
- The rights of each being are limited by the rights, integrity, balance and health of Mother Earth.

The text goes on to reaffirm Tribalism and a Neo-Marxism, which have become the new face of Liberation Theology. It declares that all States and all public and private institutions must:
- Establish and apply effective norms and laws for the defense, protection and conservation of the rights of Mother Earth;
- Guarantee that the damages caused by human violations of the inherent rights recognized in this Declaration are rectified and that those responsible are held accountable for restoring the integrity and health of Mother Earth;
- Empower human beings and institutions to defend the rights of Mother Earth;
- Promote economic systems that are in harmony with Mother Earth and in accordance with the rights recognized in this Declaration.
It is indispensable for Catholics to be aware of – and carefully watch – this new development of Marxism linked to Ecology. It requires vigilance and counter-action.
