Madrid church follows World Cup soccer games

As the soccer World Cup championship matches unfold in Mexico, the United Sates and Canada, the renowned Church of San Anton Church, at the heart of Madrid, installed large screens for the aficionados of this sport to watch the games.

The initiative came from the popular Fr. Angel Garcia Rodriguez, parish priest of San Anton, last row below.

To transform the House of God into a sports club venue is a desecration that touches upon profanation, no matter what pretext Garcia found for his action.

When asked about the suitability of his decision, he affirmed in a challenging tone: "And we will continue to put the screens until Spain is the champion!"

Fr. Angel Garcia is very sure that he will not be censured by his superiors...
