Holy Ghost's gifts offered as a fruit salad

Above you see Fr. Carlos Costale, parish priest of La Merced Church in the city of Rio Cuarto, Argentina.

To celebrate Pentecost this May 24, 2026, Fr. Costale imagined each gift of the Holy Ghost as symbolized by a fruit printed on a woman's kitchen apron. Thus, love, joy, faith, patience, peace and goodness were respectively represented by an apple, banana, orange, pear, grape and strawberry.

The women met at the entrance of the Church, danced together and then each one brought a bowl filled with pieces of her particular fruit to a table placed in front of the altar. They were received by Costale wearing a masonic-style hat and apron. He mixed all the fruits and then entered the aisle to distribute the fruit salad to the congregation as if it were Communion.

Independent of the ridiculousness of the priest's choice to symbolize the gifts of the Holy Ghost, and the profanation of the Sacred Temple, what is striking is the blatant sin against the Second Commandment: "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain."

But, in the Conciliar Church the honor given to God does not matter... What counts is to please men and make them laugh.
