Pope Prevost welcomes LGBT
On September 1, 2025, Pope Leo XIV received Fr. James Martin, SJ, in a private audience in the Papal Library of the Apostolic Palace. This warm gesture is his first show of public support for the American Jesuit and his ministry to the LGBT movement.“I am extremely grateful and deeply consoled by my meeting with the Holy Father. He encouraged me to continue my ministry,” Fr. Martin told America Magazine soon after the audience, which lasted more than half an hour.
“Pope Leo has the same openness to LGBTQ issues as Pope Francis had. He made clear that he wants everyone to feel welcome,” Martin added.
Fr. Martin enjoyed the constant support of Francis. He named Martin a consultant to the Vatican Dicastery for Communication in 2017, received him several times (here, here and here) and also wrote letters to Martin expressing his support for the homosexual agenda (here, here, here and here).
Now, as Leo XIV receives Fr. Martin and expresses his intent to welcome the LGBT movement, he closes the door on those who were hoping that he would take a more conservative approach and reject this sinful anti-natural agenda.
Leo and Francis: the same progressivist content, just a new wrapping...
