Prevost: No cassock & short sleeves
Above, at the far right, we see Fr. Robert Prevost, today Pope Leo XIV in lay apparel wearing a short sleeve shirt.In 2004, he travelled from Rome to Brazil for the 70th anniversary of St. Augustine's High School in the city of Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais State. At that time, Prevost was the General Superior of the Augustinians and lived in Rome.
The abandonment of his priestly garb shows that he was, at least at that time, a priest sailing in the winds of Vatican II's reforms. We would like to think that he rejected those customs and returned to a more dignified priestly presentation, but we do not have evidence that this actually happened.
