Brussels church hosts Ramadan break
The St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Molenbeek, Brussels, hosted on March 23, 2025, an iftar, which is the rupture of the Islamic fasting during Ramadan, above and below, first to fourth rows. Numerous Muslims attended the event as shown in the photos.Above, we notice the symbolic contradiction between the statue of St. John the Baptist preaching Jesus Christ as Messiah and at its side a stage with Islamic artifacts covering the presbitery and main altar.
The church is still sanctified, although Catholic Masses are not said there since 2016 for absence of priests. The Lassalian community in charge of the place, as well as the neighboring school run by the Christian Brothers, decided to rent the place for Muslims to express their "multiculturalism."
They alleged that with this religious profanation they can contribute to make Molenbeek compete with other Belgian cities for the one-year title of the "cultural capital of Europe."
It is sad to see the Lassalian family, founded by St. Jean Baptiste de La Salle, abandoning their mission, betraying their Faith and running after an ephemeral "glory" of the world.
