Pope with Emma Onino

Bergoglio visits pro-abortion celebrity

On November 5, 2024, Pope Bergoglio made a surprise visit to Emma Bonino, above, an Italian political celebrity who has always defended abortion, divorce and homosexuality.

Nine years ago, in November 2015, he had already greeted her warmly at a general audience, below, first and second rows.

The pretext for his visit was to show his gratitude for her strong support of immigration, a cause that obsesses Francis, and also to celebrate her recovery from a surgery caused by lung cancer.

In the third, fourth and fifth rows, we see her supporting abortion.

In the fourth row left, the placard reads: "We all had abortions. We want the process [approved]." In fact, Bonino entered the Parliament in 1976, the time of that photo, and abortion rights were approved in Italy in 1978.

Forty-four years afterwards, when abortion risked being overturned in 2022, Bonino returned to the campaign trail. The placard in the fourth row right reads: "We all had abortions. Is now the process restarting again?"

Sixth row, Bonino speaking at a homosexual public meeting; last row, she receives a peace award from George Soros.

Now then, Francis has spoken out against abortion on various occasions. Consequently, many Catholics believe that he really is against abortion in accordance with the perennial Catholic Magisterium. However, by going to visit Emma Bonino, what he did was is to send a symbolic message to the world that she has the right to champion abortion for women.

The conclusion seems very clear: If he as a Catholic is against abortion but praises and honors an anti-Catholic who is pro-abortion, he actually is leaving the decision for each person to make according to his/her own convictions.

Said more simply: On the topic of abortion Bergoglio is pro-choice.
