Franciscan nuns run in the Chicago Marathon
Chicago held a Spring Half Marathon on May 21, 2023. Franciscan nuns representing the Mission of Our Lady the Angels competed, as we can see in the photos on this page.The least we can say is that it is hardly a monastic activity corresponding to their vocation to be apart from the world, striving by their way of life, prayer and example to correct the Church and society of their attachment to wealth, rebellion and impurity, through their vows of poverty, obedience and chastity.
It demonstrates well the spirit of frivolity and the modern world that entered even supposedly conservative Orders after Vatican II.
