Nude-like performance at St. Stephen's Cathedral
On Holy Wednesday, March 31, 2021, the Cardinal Archbishop of Vienna, Christoph von Schönborn, approved a performance of nude-like dancers in St. Stephen's Cathedral. The choreography with provoking immoral positions – more appropriate for an orgy than a Holy Week service – pretended to represent the Ladder of Heaven, allegedly in anticipation of Easter.
Actually, it was another blasphemy made during Holy Week to scorn the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ in one of the most symbolic places in Europe – the very heart of ex-Catholic Austria.
Three particularly offensive displays: The main altar was covered by an enormous long-sleeved T-shirt to mockingly protect the Holy Sacrament; the dancers passed under the Statue of Our Lady and posed in their nude-style suits in front of the tomb of St. Stephen, two last rows.
