Altar at the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress 2018

Earth liturgy at the Religious Education Congress

From March 16-18, 2018, Los Angeles hosted its Religious Education Congress, which claims to be "the nation's largest annual gathering of Roman Catholics." Sponsored by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, this year's Congress reportedly gathered close to 40,000 people.

Above, we see Archbishop José Gomez, Cardinal Gregorio Chávez of El Salvador and Cardinal Roger Mahony concelebrating on the altar at the convention center where the event took place. If we pay attention, we see that the two tilmas – indigenous garments from Mexico ornamenting the altar on each side of Our Lady of Guadalupe – were chosen to be very similar to two rainbow banners. Since we know that the rainbow has been used as a symbol of the homosexual movement, this "coincidence" in itself sends an expressive message.

The other photos of this page show a progressivist Filipino dance called the "Care of the Earth Liturgy" being performed in another hall. The fact it was featured this year in the LA Religious Education Congress reveals Archbishop Gomez's attempt to put his Archdiocese in tune with Francis' 'Laudato Si' and his new tribalist trend, which promises to increase as the Church approaches the 2019 Synod on Amazonia.

It is also a way to advance the Revolution in the Church and in the world by promoting a new model of society that goes beyond Communism.
