Soccer-Ecumenism with Protestants
During preparations for the Soccer World Cup - 2006, an ecumenical ceremony took place in a Catholic church in Munich, having at its center an enormous soccer ball. Present were Cardinal Karl Lehmann of Mainz, first from the left, Cardinal Friedrich Wetter of Munich, third, along with Wolfgang Huber, second, head of the Evangelical Sect in Germany, and two other unidentified Protestant ministers.
Below first row, Wolfgang Huber and Cardinal Robert Zollitsch of Freiburg, president of the German Conference of Bishops, leading the service as equals at a public liturgical celebration. Last row, Huber is warmly received by Benedict XVI at the Vatican.
Undoubtedly ecumenism with Protestants is being promoted by those who head the Catholic Church.
