Assisi pan-religious meeting - 2002
January 2002 - John Paul II's pan-religous meeting of Assisi gathered under the symbol of an olive tree (above). Each representative offered a burning candle symbolizing peace (below).
These were the only two symbols that could be agreed upon to be accepted by all. Is Ecumenism returning to Paganism, which worshipped earth, fire, water and air?
