Russia’s ‘Might’ & Smart Babies
Smart Babies Are Coming
TIA,
An interesting tidbit from Wall Street Journal.
Forget about God and Divine Providence.
Forget about the ‘imperfect’ babies with defects, Down Syndrome, etc. It is no longer part of man’s plan.

Inside Silicon Valley’s Obsession With High-IQ Babies
Parents are paying up to $50,000 for new genetic-testing services that include promises to screen embryos for IQ. Professional matchmakers are setting up tech execs with brilliant partners, partly to get brilliant offspring. Tech futurists are urging the intellectually gifted to multiply.
This isn’t science fiction – it is modern-day Silicon Valley, where interest in breeding smarter babies is on the rise.
This week, Zusha Elinson reports on the tech execs who are paying thousands to select potentially high-IQ embryos.
Startups Nucleus Genomics and Herasight have begun publicly offering IQ predictions, based on genetic tests, to help people select which embryos to use for in vitro fertilization. Bay Area demand is high for the services, which cost around $6,000 at Nucleus and up to $50,000 at Herasight.
In Silicon Valley, even the traditional approaches can be costly, with tech execs enlisting professionals to find intelligent partners.
One group of computer scientists in Berkeley, known as the rationalists, fear that AI poses an existential risk to humanity – so they are trying to use genomics to breed smarter humans who can save us all.
Yet the growing IQ fetish is sparking debate, with bioethicists raising alarms. Genetic tests have a limited ability to predict IQ, and experts caution about unintended consequences.

A House of Contradictions
Dear TIA,
What an astute assessment and very alarming! If you have not already, you must read this. Was not "fog" and "foggie-headness" of the prelates referred to at La Salette?
This link is from today's post; this one here is from yesterday. I read this totally repulsed by the behavior of Burke. Most troubling! Ah, the depth of the wounds which penetrated the Immaculate Heart at the foot of the Cross and the Sacred Heart and Body upon the Cross will only be known when all is revealed at the end of time and we see what a debt we owe for Their combined willingness to suffer so that Heaven might be opened to us!!
Also I was left with a sense of gratitude that I was born Catholic because had I not, after learning of this about Burke, I could well imagine being so repulsed that I might never have entered.
Have to go now to my gardening and a zillion chores that unfortunately all wait for me in a day that always ends up too short.
God bless you!
In Maria,

How Penitence Brings Joy
Dear TIA,
Ave Maria Purissima!
The attached photograph is not dated and the location not stated. I think it is The Good Shepherd Convent in Angers and I think the date might be sometime in the early 1950s or late 1940s before the uniforms were modernized in France.
It is interesting because of the cheerful obedience of the penitent children. Here we have no sense of defiance or bitterness, simply a gentle acquiescence in their punishment. This is the fruit of the policy of treating the penitents as "children" by removing even the smallest responsibility from them.
They did not need to think of anything except the salvation of their souls which they knew would be certain if they grew in ever more humble and diligent obedience. In the annals of the various convents you will read descriptions of the penitent children stating that they were diligent in following the rule even in the smallest things.
On the left of this photo and around the raised dais of the Sisters we can just make out some very young girls who were also part of La Grande Classe. It is always sad to see such corruption among those who should be pure and innocent.
As always, the Sisters put a great deal of effort into the penitents' uniforms. We see here the very modest capes and the penitents’ caps with a lovely piece of material to the front.
All in all a delightful scene and again we marvel at the discipline of these penitents and how the Sisters brought them to this level of obedience. I think in those days even girls from the lowest classes had a great respect for and indeed fear of the Religious and this certainly helped.
God bless you.
Yours sincerely

I received this video that examines the weak points of the Russian military. It is interesting to assess this along with all the psychological warfare that has been set in motion against the West – especially the U.S. – which spreads that Russia war machine is more efficient than the one of the United States.
The time that Russia has spent fighting against Ukraine – 3 ½ years – and the meager success it has attained – along with its one million casualties that is rarely mentioned – shows us that the video is not so exaggerated. Let us not forget that Putin had planned for this “military operation” to conquer Ukraine to take place in a matter of days, not years.
Anyway, take the video for what it is worth. I thought that your readers would benefit from knowing this aspect of the reality.
Best regards,
In Christ Jesus,
E.J.
