‘Drones,’ Jazz Mass & Condemned Agreda

‘Drones’ Flying over Riverside

Dear TIA,

Riverside residents in California say that they saw triangle-shaped large objects flying in their areas. They were “the size of a car,” others said they looked like “huge triangles.”

Francis Listen to Muslim Song

TIA, (from Instagram)

On the audience of December 4, 2024, Pope Francis allowed an Indonesian Muslim music ensemble to play for him, while receiving and taking pictures with a group of Indonesian Muslims. The footage appeared on social media (Instagram, here). The group is singing the song “Sholawat Badar” (or “Salawat Badar”).

A Salawat is a song praising Mohammed, see here. Salawat Badar is an Indonesian Muslim song praising the Prophet Mohammed. Information about the song can be found here (simply translate the page to English in Google Chrome). A popular YouTube version of the song can be found here.

In the video of the Indonesian ensemble playing for Pope Francis, they can be seen singing the song in an upbeat, gleeful way. The Pope takes a picture with this group of Indonesian Muslims, smiling and giving a thumbs-up sign as he is wheeled away, while they continue to sing praises to Mohammed.

Certainly this group would not have been there without prior screening... which means, yet another ecumenical act by Pope Francis, and yet another rotten fruit of Vatican II.

Please see attached photo.

Catholics under Communist Control in China

Dear TIA,

Since you are one of the few Catholic sites that tells news about the Church and Communist China, that is, the Church’s complete submission to the Communist government, I thought this article from Bitter Winter might interest your readers.

The Bishop appointed by the Pope who opened an important Forum for “Catholics” did not acknowledge, Rome, the Pope or anything outside of Chinese Communist Catholicism (CCP) under the control of the Communist government.

As Bitter Winter notes:

Zhen was expected to be a poster bishop for the recently renewed Vatican-China deal, one who would prove to the world the benefits of the agreement. The Vatican, when reporting the consecration, omitted from the biography of Zhen - that he served as vice chairman of the Beijing Catholic Patriotic Association from August 2014 to June 2024, and as chairman of the same Beijing Catholic Patriotic Association and the Education Committee from June 2024, a fact that was emphasized in Chinese sources. Although today the Vatican allows and even encourages priests and laypersons to join the Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association, it was not so before 2018, and the entity is strictly controlled and managed by the CCP via the United Front.

Was The City of God Condemned?

Hi,

My name is R..

I’ve had some problem with a certain traditional priest who is completely adamant that the wonderful books of Venerable Mary of Agreda (Mystical City of God) are condemned. I’ve tried to use quotes from popes and others I’ve seen, yet he dismisses them as false claims made up by Ven. Agreda’s supporters.

Are there a documents or sources I can find so I can prove to Him these papal approvals are authentic?

TIA responds:

R.M.,

Thank you for your inquiry.

The Mystical City of God has been approved by many Popes and even by Saints. The article “To Read or Not to Read The Mystical City of God?” explains the controversy that arose over these books.

Dr. Horvat explains that, “Based on a faulty and hastily translated French text of The Mystical City, a majority of the doctors of the Sorbonne condemned The Mystical City of God. The Prohibitive Decree of the University Inquisition was signed on August 4, 1681. The Sorbonne doctors condemned it for ‘exaggerated’ devotion to the Mother God because of its ‘Scotist doctrines.’ Shortly afterward the Roman Tribunal placed it on the Index of Forbidden Books, without either having made a thorough study of the original text or giving the defense a hearing.

“The Prohibitive Decree of 1681 immediately raised a thick storm cloud of protests. Even the Spanish royalty – King Charles II, Queen Mary and Queen Louise – appealed to Pope Innocent XI to review the case. He immediately ordered a careful study of the work, and on November 9, 1681, he issued a Brief that removed the Prohibitive Decree. Further, the Pope decreed that The Mystical City of God was to be freely spread among the clergy and laity. That is to say, it was on the Index for only three months and five days. (The Age of Mary, Austin: The Dolph Briscoe Center for American History, 2016, Jan-Feb. 1958 issue, p. 52)”

The priest with whom you are dealing must have read these prohibitions and not studied further the history or reasons behind the prohibition. Timothy A. Duff has given an excellent refutation to a priest who was making the same claims as the one with whom you spoke. You can read his response here. He also has a page on “Official Papal Approval” which you may find helpful.

In his paper on Private Judgment, Timothy Duff responds to the skeptical priest by saying:

“You will there find that Very Rev. Peter Mary Rookey, OSM, Consultor General of the Servites, personally researched in 1957 the decisions of five Popes regarding the books utilizing the original manuscript The Cause for the Beatification of the Ven. Mary of Jesus of Ágreda, a Latin manuscript which is to this day in the archives of the Congregation of Rites. This portfolio of original, signed Magisterial documents proves the Mystical City of God is approved by the Holy See as containing nothing contrary to Faith and Morals, and hence may be kept and read by all the faithful."

You will also find there that Benedict XIV, contrary to what you state above, on May 7, 1757, promulgated the following decree:

“It follows the Venerable Servant of God, Sister Mary of Jesus of Ágreda, wrote in the Spanish language the work which is treated in eight volumes and distributed under the title The Mystical City of God.” I could send you a pdf file of the original Latin document if you wish.”

Perhaps if you contacted Mr. Duff, he would be willing to send you this Latin document if you needed it to prove the authenticity of the papal approbations of the Mystical City of God.

     Cordially,
