New ‘Saint’ Promoted the Pill
News is out: Pope John Paul I, who served just 33 days as pontiff, is to be beatified on 4 September. Known as the “smiling pope”, he was the first pope to take a double name. Unlike most popes, his background had largely been in pastoral work, with notable campaigns for the poor and disabled when he was Archbishop of Venice.
He was also pro on the anti-conception pill.
He has everything necessary for joining the Vatican II Pope Saint list; everything, but proven sanctity, fidelity to tradition and good morals, miracles and other such old fashioned things.
It is another offense against the Church.

Consequence of the Supreme Court Decision
Read this bill to be inserted into the Kansas Constitution:
“§ 22. Regulation of abortion. Because Kansans value both women and children, the constitution of the state of Kansas does not require government funding of abortion and does not create or secure a right to abortion. To the extent permitted by the constitution of the United States, the people, through their elected state representatives and state senators, may pass laws regarding abortion, including, but not limited to, laws that account for circumstances of pregnancy resulting from rape or incest, or circumstances of necessity to save the life of the mother.”
It sounds like more double talk and selective killing of babies to me, thanks to evil cowardice or "choice" by deranged Supreme Court Justices.
No "Supreme Court" has the right to tell States/people they have the right to decide whether to kill unborn/preborn/ babies in or out of the womb.
Have "We The People" always been such pawns of Satan???!!!
I am disgusted, and too old and tired to do any good other than to go into hibernation.

Precision on First Saturdays Requirements
I enjoyed your response to a reader who inquired about proper First Friday and First Saturday devotions.
Given that the Saturday morning liturgy differs from the Saturday evening (vigil) liturgy, is it acceptable to attend Saturday evening mass and use this as fulfillment of this devotion?
If so, must one also attend Sunday morning mass with the intention that Saturday vigil is for reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and Sunday morning is weekly mass?
Unfortunately, there are no priests who offer Saturday morning mass in my location.

Hello M.R.F.,
We commend you for your desire to fulfill perfectly the First Saturday requirements, as so many Catholics today do not take this important devotion seriously.
Our Lady's request for the first five Saturdays devotion is for the faithful to make a Communion of Reparation on Five consecutive First Saturdays. In her request, Our Lady does not give as a condition the requirement to attend Mass, only to receive Communion. Therefore, any Communion made on a First Saturday during the 24-hour period of the Saturday (from midnight to midnight) would fulfill the requirement. The Communion fulfills the request even if it is made outside of a Mass.
So, if you receive Communion during a Mass on Saturday and you fulfill the other requests, you would have fulfilled the requirements of the first Saturday devotion.
In fact, Our Lord told Sr. Lucy that, in difficult situations, the Communion could even be made on the following Sunday: “The practice of this devotion will be equally acceptable on the Sunday following the first Saturday when my priests, for a just cause, allow the faithful.” (May 29, 1930) In order to receive this privilege, however, the person must have truly just reasons (work, sickness) and not simply because a Catholic wants to avoid the effort that it takes to receive Communion on the Saturday. Also, a priest must give the necessary dispensation.
It seems that some of the confusion that you are having regarding the Sunday Mass is the result of the progressivist changes in the liturgy we have seen installed after Vatican II. Prior to Council, there was no "Mass of Anticipation" or "Vigil Mass" on Saturday that would fulfill the Sunday obligation.
According to the 1917 Code of Canon Law as promulgated under Pope Benedict XV (which simply codified the already existing canon law), a priest was forbidden to say Mass during the evening and night hours, except in special circumstances such as Christmas Midnight Mass.
Indeed, Canon 821 § 1, stated: "The beginning of the celebration of Mass shall not occur earlier than one hour before first light or later than one hour after noon."
The changes started when Pius XII allowed, under special circumstances, local Ordinaries to celebrate Mass after 4:00 P.M. This was permitted on account of the shortage of priests, and the Mass was always celebrated on the evening or night of the Sunday or feast day, not on the preceding evening. The reforms of Vatican II went farther and granted permission for any priest to celebrate Mass in the evening and night, thus opening the door for the "Mass of Anticipation" to become a widespread phenomenon.

Thank you for your article on Pokémon. I can tell you that this craze is far from something of the past. Many of the young men and women who started playing years ago are still playing now. They are the youth who never grow up, always looking for the next game.
Here’s an article detailing just how much Pokémon is actually worth.
As you can see from the breakdown, it has multiple sources of revenue. There’s a Pokémon TV show, comic book, trading card game, movies, and a live-action movie. They also released a phone app a few years ago that brought it back into popularity again. This is all in addition to the actually video game itself which started it all. On top of this, though, is the official Pokémon clothing and toys that also contribute greatly. People buy clothing, plushies, action figures, and all kinds of apparel.
The best thing about this model is that every person had their own favorite Pokémon of which they can buy merchandise. I may like this creature but so and so likes this creature and so we can both buy whatever we want and continue to live in our fantasy world.
Pokémon is the biggest franchise but there are others and more and more adult men are falling into these worlds in one way or another. Most are not as childish as Pokémon but the effects are the same. They lose all drive to better themselves and to find any real purpose or meaning.
