Loreto Staircase

Good Morning,

I was sent a link regarding the miraculous staircase in Santa Fe, New Mexico, at the Loreto Chapel. In case you have not seen it, here it is:

Enjoy!

Polish Wooden Church

Dear Marian,

A friend e-mailed to me today the text below. You will love it.

P.O.B.

Inside of a 350 year old wooden Church in Poland. It is amazing that this church survived both World Wars.

Use your mouse to pan around and up and down. Then zoom in and look at areas and objects within inches for minute details. WAIT FOR IT TO SELF-FOCUS

This old wooden church in southwest Poland is beautiful & amazing artwork. It will be all around you. Use pointers at bottom to see the whole church interior details (also full screen). It must have taken years to construct such a beautiful church... the artwork & ceiling even longer.

Women Theologians

Dear Tradition in Action,

I have read your many articles about women; you had a link to Bishop Williamson where he discussed the problems with females in universities. I was wondering if there is any problem with the modern idea of female theologians. Though I believe there were nuns who were professors at universities. To me it seems contrary to the nature of women to teach theology at university level, or take on the title and authority of a theologian.

     God bless,

     P.S.

TIA responds:

Dear P.S.,

We believe you are correct. It is also our opinion that women, either nuns or lay, should be neither professors of theology at universities nor theologians.

Traditional Saints of the Day

Hello,

I enjoy your website, but I have a big question!

Your feature called “Saint of the Day” does not seem to line up with my traditional Catholic calendar.

Is your calendar based on the Novus Ordo changes to the Saints' feast days?

Please kindly advise.

     In the Holy Family,

     A.A.

TIA responds:

Hello A.A.,

We try to follow the traditional Catholic calendar as much as possible. However, with the post-conciliar changes in the calendar of saints, there is a large margin of confusion on these dates. So, once in a while we get some dates wrong.

In such a case, when our readers find any discrepancy with the traditional calendar they communicate it to us, and we change the date accordingly.

If you find any error, please do not hesitate to advise us.

     Cordially,

Using AC & BC in History

TIA,

Why is it, if A.D. means "in the year of Our Lord" in Latin, that the word "before," as in B.C., is not expressed in Latin?

W.A.

TIA responds:

W.A.,

There is actually an inconsistency.

AD is used in English to refer to the years after Our Lord. It is the abbreviation of Anno Domini, short of anno Domini Nostri Jesu Christi, Latin for “year of Our Lord Jesus Christ,” as you observed.

BC is the English word for Before Christ.

So, one is used in English, another in Latin.

The Jews are taking advantage of this inconsistency in English to try to eliminate the name of Christ from the normal reference of dates in History. They are widely spreading these new acronyms: BCE and ACE, which stand for Before the Common Era and After the Common Era. Since the Jews have an uninterrupted calendar of more than 5,000 years, when using BCE and ACE they refer with scorn to the era of the goyms, all those who are not Jews, therefore, all of us Catholics.

We do not advise anyone to use these new acronyms, since they have a clear anti-Christian purpose.

It is better to keep using the old ones, even when they are not consistent.

     Cordially,

Query about the Infant Jesus & the Cuadernon

Hi TIA,

In the past I found an article in your website about the topic of the 'end of the crisis of the Church when the Infant Jesus of Good Success & the Cuadernon are found.' I thought I saved it but now I couldn't find it. Can you point it out to me because I couldn't find it on the site.

The one I found is about Fr. Pereira's Original Documents which has a quote of Mother Mariana. I can't remember if this was the article I'm talking about, so if there are any others, please point them out to me. I've been praying for these treasures to be found.

     God bless,

     D.C.

Hello D.C.,

The only place on our website we dealt with this matter and provided quotes is the Fr. Pereira article you mentioned. It is here.

The Power of the Rosary

TIA,

I found the testimony below on the web.

Perhaps your readers would benefit from reading it.

C.C.

I was raised by an abortion clinic nurse, and required to work as a patient escort in the clinic parking lot on abortion days. There were many pro-lifers who came out to the clinic on those days; some were sidewalk counselors, some were protesters, some were prayer warriors. There was one woman in particular who never spoke a word, never even interacted with the other pro-lifers. She was a tiny, frail, very elderly woman, who each Friday would walk to the clinic, kneel on the sidewalk at the corner (some distance away from the entrance), and pray the Rosary. Sometimes she would be there for hours, through any weather, with her bony knees on pavement that could be blazing hot, freezing cold, or soaking wet. I saw her every Friday I was there, and she always smiled at me when she arrived and again when she left, but never said a word.

One winter day she came and prayed for at least three hours, in freezing rain. The clinic owner came out and saw her, and asked the escorts to ask her to come in for tea when she was done. When she got up from kneeling, I went over and invited her in. She accepted, and I walked her into the clinic and the owner brought over a pot of tea. The three of us sat together on one of the couches in the counseling area. The old lady (I never did find out her name) sipped her tea and smiled peacefully, nodding solemnly as the owner explained that her efforts in prayer were wasted, that she was needlessly inconveniencing or even harming herself by kneeling on the sidewalk, that she would be better off staying at home in comfort since nothing - NOTHING - would ever dissuade the clinic's owner, doctor, or staff to stop performing abortions; and that by just kneeling and praying without interaction, she was hardly going to convince any women to change their minds.

When the owner finished speaking, the old lady put her teacup down, and said "God knows what I'm doing out there, and it matters to him even if it doesn't matter to you or anyone else. My prayers have value to God. And if I can change one heart - even ONE" - and she looked straight into my eyes as she said this - "then it will have all been worth it. I know God will reward me in the end." The clinic owner rolled her eyes, sighed, and shook her head. The old lady stood up, thanked us for the tea, and left.

~~~~~
I never forgot her. I was already questioning and doubting my pro-abortion indoctrination; and years later, I would join the pro-life movement as a post-abortive mother, and speak out against abortion and to encourage people to reach out to women considering abortion, people who have been harmed by abortion, and especially to clinic workers. I now pray in front of our local abortion clinic, and I plan to one day pray in front of the clinic where my mother worked. I am certain that the little old lady who used to so faithfully pray there is in Heaven now; and I want to encourage all of us to follow her faithful example. She did change the one heart she hoped for; and who knows how many more?
