Do wear dignified clothing even on casual occasions
Most of the casual ways of dressing today were introduced under the pretext of practicality: "Since we are going to a non-ceremonial event, let us avoid wearing anything that constrains our movements: coats and ties, long-sleeve shirts, dress shoes, etc." I believe this is a phony reason. We can and should go to casual events dressed with dignity - as all civilized people did until the unfortunate Cultural Revolution of the 1960s.
Proof is found above, where we see Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip following a country steeple-chase. To have a better view of the race, Philip sits on top of the vehicle, but even on this occasion he wears a tie and buttoned jacket. He looks quite comfortable, doesn't he?
An egalitarian person reading this commentary may protest: "You are elitists, always taking your models from the European nobility!" Not so fast, please. Below, you have a photo of Americans, the Kennedys, at an informal garden party wearing their ties and buttoned jackets, the same as Philip...
Do be dignified and dress properly at all times.
