UN Onslaught against Anti-Abortion Laws

As a new period of sessions started at the UN (September 13, 2011), abortion has been presented as a human right that the organization will impose on all its member countries.
Under the pretext of respect for human rights, the UN will shortly discuss the report Practices in adopting a human rights-based approach to eliminate preventable maternal mortality and human rights (original here), which encourages all countries to eliminate anti-abortion laws.
The document, written by Anand Grove, states that laws forbidding or limiting abortion are obstacles to reduce maternal mortality and are against human rights. Limitation or prohibition of abortion is qualified as a “violation of international law” and “discriminatory against women.” It goes as far as to allege that it is a “violation to the right to live without torture.”
No to father’s rights and objection of conscience
In this report, the need for the father’s consent in the case of single under-age women is criticized as a restriction to access to abortion. Also censured is the need for the husband’s consent in the case of married women.

Objection of conscience claimed by physicians is also held to be a restriction that should be eliminated. The country members of the UN are instructed to organize their health services so that objections of conscience by professionals do not prevent women from having access to full health services, which includes having an abortion.
The goal of the mentioned report is to carry out the recommendations of the Commission on the Status of Women and the UN Human Rights Council, as well as the policies affirmed by the General Secretary of the UN Ban Ki-moon in the documents Keeping the promise: a forward-looking review to promote an agreed action agenda to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by 2015, and Global Strategy for Women and Children’s Health.
Echoing these resolutions, the feminist bulletin Women News, which reports news from international organizations and NGOs, insisted in its September 16, 2001 issue that non-legalized abortion was one of the main problems for Brazil to overcome by 2015, the year set by the UN to achieve its aims set out in its program Development Goals for the Millennium.
A strangled UN
The New York Times, spokes-organ for the abortionist agenda and the “gay” movement, recently expressed alarm that the funds to maintain the UN structure are being threatened (September 6, 2011). House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, is calling for the United States to reduce the contribution it regularly gives to the UN. Ros-Lehtinen affirmed that the UN is a “stew of corruption, mismanagement and negligence.”
